I would like to apologize to my readers for not blogging in the last week. This is because I wanted to wait for the final Penn State home game and allow the Blue Band’s halftime show to sink in. Dr. Bundy conducted his last show in Beaver Stadium. It was a bittersweet moment in time. The band put together one of the most special performances we could have possibly done. We played three songs that our esteemed director arranged himself back in the 1980s when he was still a grad student. I could not be prouder of the show we put on. Dr. Bundy was gifted with the traditional drum head, signed by every member of the current band. There were also letters of congratulations as high up as the state government, all of the way down to the local government. At one point during the show, the audience was asked to stand and wave to Dr. Bundy if they had been impacted either personally, or through Dr. Bundy’s work. It was awesome to see the number of people that stood up and waved. I knew that he was an awesome director the moment all of the rookies participated in the first “Rookie Run” of band camp. He will be missed.
